The Sacred Heart junior football team continued their winning ways with a 40-20 win Monday afternoon at home against the Cobras.

The Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) Saints junior developmental football team was in action for the third time this season Monday afternoon.

For the third time in a row, they chalked up a victory.

This one was to a tune of a 40-20 win over the visiting Cobras.

SHHS head coach Darcy Todos said he likes the way his team in looking, a bunch of players as young as Gr. 7.

Some are Gr. 8 students and others are Gr. 9 students at Sacred Heart.

Todos said the developmental game is for those players to give them a chance to practice the basics of football.

Todos said he was thrilled with the performance, in particular with the team's first-half performance.

"There's a lot of guys doing some fundamentals right."

According to the coach, they include: learning to play as a team, looking after each other on the football field as well as providing the blocks for the ball carrier. SHHS has now tallied three straight wins. Todos said that they will be looking for their fourth win on Monday when they host Moosomin.

Jake Kustra and Jonah Sutter split the game ball award, says Todos. TB Kustra scored all five SHHS touchdowns and ran 257 yards in the process. Jonah Sutter had the ball four times, had 67 yards and also stood out on special teams with three two-point conversions.

Defensively, says Todos, SHHS's Brody Kormos picked up 18 tackles and a pair of picks.

Matthew Todos had eight tackles and Zack Shearer impressed his coaches at the DB position.

"He stopped a lot of sweeps," notes Todos.

The Saints look to pick up win #4 on Monday at 4 p.m.
