Kamsack athletes compete in provincial SOLE-stice meet

Several Kamsack athletes participated in the SOLE-stice track and field provincial meet in Saskatoon on June 16. They were athletes who placed in the top two at the regional meet held in Kamsack on May 26.

Several Kamsack athletes participated in the SOLE-stice track and field provincial meet in Saskatoon on June 16. They were athletes who placed in the top two at the regional meet held in Kamsack on May 26.

Some of the highlight performances by Kamsack athletes included: Cage Clark, 6th in the 50m race; Melody Lin, 8th in 60m and long jump; Robbie Grieve, 6th in ball throw; Cadence Campeau, 1st in 800m, 1st in ball throw, 4th in 150m and 5th in 80m, and Gerri Basaraba, 7th in ball throw and 9th in 150m.

At the age class provincial meet in Regina on June 9 and 10, Kamsack sent Petrie Whitehawk and Cadence Campeau. Petrie competed in the U16 age group in the long jump and 100m events on June 9 but was unable to continue in the competition due to illness. Cadence competed in the U14 age group and placed 8th in the 80m, 7th in the 150m, and got a silver medal in both the 800m and 1200m races.

“This wraps up the Victoria School, KCI and Kamsack Track and Field Clubs seasons for this year,” said Chantel Kitchen (coach.) “Athletes interested in early training and the opportunity to compete in the indoor season are encouraged to check out our club track program that starts up in January.”
