The Kamsack Comprehensive Institute Spartans senior six-man football team plays its first home game of the season tomorrow against the Watson team.
The team played its first game of the season at Preeceville on September 16 when the Spartans were defeated 20-18.
“Our team has a lot of older students on it so we’re hoping for a good season,” Ryan Stanko, the coach, said last week, adding that the team and its coaches would appreciate hearing from any community members wishing to help out.
“We need more coaches,” he said of the team which has a total of 17 players. Persons wishing to help the team may contact Stanko at the KCI.
The senior team builds on the skills that players from the junior football program, which begins in May, have developed, he said. The junior program involves players in grades 5 to 7.
After tomorrow’s game, the next home game for the Spartans will be played against Preeceville on October 16 and the last of the team’s six-game schedule will be played at home on October 23 against Wynyard.
After last week’s game in Preeceville, the team’s “away” games will be played in Wynyard October 2 and in Watson on October 8.
