Preeceville Panthers off to great start

The Preeceville Panther football team was put to the test through exercises and plays to prepare for the first home game on September 16. The camp was held from September 1 to 4 with practices on a daily basis.

Coaching staff for the senior football team include Jeremy Mattison and Doug King, who share coaching responsibilities. Bill Dodge is the junior coach with Patrick Livingston as the assistant for both senior and junior teams.

“The team looks great with a positive number of players,” said Matti-son. “We are in a rebuild-ing year with most of the players moving up from juniors. The camp covers a number of things from ba-sic plays, conditioning and skills. We also outfit our players with equipment that fi ts them. The team is a young team and we have to focus on coming up with plays that work best for the team.

There are four teams in our conference that include: Kamsack, Watson and Wynyard. The conferences were all re-defined and we all have the opportunity to play six games. Our fi rst game is a home game on September 16 against Kamsack. Kick-off is at 4 p.m. and we are looking forward to a great game and season with the focus on reaching provincials,” he said.

The junior team is coached by Bill Dodge with Patrick Livingston as the assistant. The team is made up of players from Invermay, Norquay, Sturgis and Preeceville.
