Seniors' Games this month in Melville

Saskatchewan Seniors Fitness Association (SSFA), Parkland Valley District will be held in Melville on May 28-29, 2012. The theme is fitness, fun and friendship.


Saskatchewan Seniors Fitness Association (SSFA), Parkland Valley District will be held in Melville on May 28-29, 2012.

The theme is fitness, fun and friendship. The main objective of the SSFA 55+ games is to promote active living, wellness and participation of adults 50 years of age and older.

Seniors who participate in the district games may take part in the provincial games and can qualify for the national games. Seniors will have their choice of events including archery; bowling (5 pin); bridge (contract); cribbage; golf (18 hole); Kaiser; pickleball; poetry/short stories; pool (snooker/8 ball); scrabble; shuffleboard; slo-pitch; tennis; track and field; and whist. In order for an event to run, two people need to participate. Archery competition will be held on May 12-13 and pickleball will be held on May 28.

The 55+ Games will begin at 8 a.m. with participants checking in at the Horizon Credit Union Center. Opening Ceremonies start at 9 a.m. Games events will run from 10-12 p.m. at a variety of venues. Participants will break for lunch and the game events will continue from 1-3 p.m. and end with Closing Ceremonies.
