Sleeva OT hero in Yorkton Terrier win Saturday

YORKTON - A night after a 4-1 loss to Melfort in the Mustangs home building the Yorkton Terriers hosted the ‘Stangs in a game played in Kamsack.

The Terriers appeared to like the neutral site ice scoring the only goal of the opening frame.

The goal came from the stick of Coltan Koran at 8:13.

Melfort knotted the score at 1-1 with the only goal of the middle stanza.

Logan Belton notched the goal at the 9:58 mark.

In the third the Mustangs inched ahead as Bo Eisner scored at 3:55.

The lead was short-lived as Dylan Ruptash responded with a Terrier goal at 8:08.

The 2-2 score would hold through the remainder of period three sending the teams to a five-minute overtime.

The game looked headed to a shoot-out but Clay Sleeva had different idea. Sleeva potted an unassisted goal with three seconds left in OT to give the Terriers a 3-2 win.

James Venne defended the twine for Melfort, facing 31-shots in the loss.

In the Terrier net Blake Sittler faced 18-shots for the win.
