The pro shop and the driving range at the Deer Park Municipal Golf Course is open for the 2012 season. The back nine opened to the public over the weekend. Any questions or queries can be directed to the pro shop at 786-1711.
The Yorkton Harvest Spring Skate is scheduled for the weekend of April 27-29 at the Farrell Agencies Arena. The three-day skate will give the coaches an opportunity to do some scouting during the offseason.
The preparations for elementary school football is scheduled to start up on April 26 at the Yorkdale Central Public School. They play in two different leagues. The first one is 6-man football as well as a 9-man league. Their first game is scheduled for May 29.
The elementary school basketball City-wide tournament is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Boys and girls teams from all Yorkton schools will be playing off against each other. The finals are scheduled for tonight. The girls play at 6 p.m. The boys final is at 7 p.m.
The Good Spirit School Division will be hosting the fourth annual division-wide Standards Track Meet next week at the Gallagher Centre. Approximately 1,300 from 27 schools in Gr. 4-8 will be participating. The top 18 finishers at this meet will qualify for the Showcase meet the following Friday, also at the Flexihall.
The members of the Yorkton archery club completed their first weekend of competition last weekend in Saltcoats. This weekend, they head to Moose Jaw for provincials. The national event takes place shortly afterwards and is done electronically.
