The Saskatchewan Ball Hockey League is continuing its Yorkton league this season. Games are scheduled to begin early this month at the Yorkton Kinsmen Arena.


The Saskatchewan Ball Hockey League is continuing its Yorkton league this season. Games are scheduled to begin early this month at the Yorkton Kinsmen Arena. They Yorkton league is a division of Sask Ball hockey which is under the Canada West Ball Hockey League.


The east central districts junior badminton tournament was held on May 1 at the Yorkton Regional High School. Commissioner Shawn Redmond reports the top finishers in each of the five categories. Brooklyn Somogyi of Sacred Heart finished in third in girls singles. The boys doubles team of Kris Pidperyhora/Jake Holinaty also of Sacred Heart placed first. In girls doubles, the YRHS team of Edie Schramm/Bailey Pelchat placed in first. Christina Mentanko/Bryce Sherring of Sacred Heart came in third. Finally, in mixed doubles, it was the YRHS (Morgan Sapara/Liam Poole placing second to Sturgis. Sacred Heart finished third in team aggregate standings.


The South East Senior Baseball League is getting ready to start up. The league has expanded by two teams from last year. New this season is the addition of the Yorkton Orioles. The league also welcomes back league champions from 2002, the Langenburg Indians. The additions bring the number of local teams up to four. Also included are the Yorkton Junior Cardinals and the Yorkton Yankees.
