The McSweeney's Selects 16U girls volleyball team is in Toronto to compete at the Canadian Open Volleyball Championships. The team is scheduled to open competition tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. (EST) at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.

Coach Brent Brown told the paper Monday night that the team is going to play out of division 4, which he says puts them in good position to bring home a championship.


The South East Senior Baseball League season begins this week locally as teams open their home schedule. The Yankees and Junior Cardinals have already started with road games. The Yankees are scheduled to play tonight at home at 8 p.m., against Melville. They also play on May 22 (Tuesday) at home to Willowbrook, also at 8 p.m. The Junior Cardinals play May 23 (Wednesday) against Canora at home at 6:15 p.m.


Paul Toth, linebacker from the YRHS Raider Gridders will be the lone YRHS student asked to play in this year's Senior Bowl, says head coach Roby Sharpe. Toth will be playing in his final high school game, with the best of the rest in the province, this Monday at Huskie Field in Saskatoon.


The WMBL Yorkton Cardinals are in search of billet houses for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in helping out can call Karen at 783-2926 or Dixie at 782-2314.


YRHS has five football players invited to play in the Roughrider Bowl, says head coach Roby Sharpe. The game features the top 90 high school players.
