WEYBURN - The Yorkton Terriers headed to Weyburn for action tonight, where they enjoyed a big first period outscoring the Red Wings 3-0.
Steven Norum started the scoring in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League game with a goal 9:05 into action.
Karsten Kruska, with a short-handed effort at 17:38 made it 2-0, and Greg Nelson at 19:23 added the third Terrier marker.
In the second period the Wings got on the board, but with only one marker. It came off the stick of Austyn Hansen at 3:31, to make it a 3-1 contest through 40-minutes of play.
In the third Zach McIntyre made it 4-1 with a poweplay effort at 16:08, rounding out scoring on the night.
Kael DePape was in net for Yorkton facing 26-shots in the win, with Dazza Mitchell guarding the twine for the home side, facing 53-shots on the loss.
The Red Wings make a return visit to play the Terriers Friday, before Yorkton heads to Wilcox to face the Notre Dane Hounds Saturday.
