Yorkton United Girls soccer team went undefeated in four matches to capture the Gold medal at Regina Summerfest tournament July 8 - 10.

The United girls played their first match against Regina FCR Hooper and defeated them 3 to 0 on the strength of goals by Sophie Smith, Addisyn Jakubiec, and Kirsi Kitch.

Up next for the Yorkton ladies was a stong team Regina FCR Leblanc who they would eventually meet in the final.

The ladies scored a come from behind 3 to 2 win with goals by Lacey Westvelt and a pair by Sophie Smith.

The Yorkton ladies remained perfect in the round robin with a 5 - 0 win over Regina FCR Lang. Sophie Smith added two more goals, Angela Fetsch, Addisyn Jakubiec and Kirsi Kitch chipped in singles.

In the final game, the United Girls came to play and ended up winning the Championship game 3 - 0.

Keeper Avery Bond continued her strong play and recorded her third shut out of the tournament but was never really tested in this game as defenders Lily Johnson, Sara Switzer, Angela Fetsch and Addisyn Jakubiec played solid as they had all tournament. Goal scorers in the final were Kirsi Kitch with two and Sophie Smith added one for her 6th goal of the tournament.

This tournament ends the season for the Under 10 United Girls who have produced some excellent results. Coach Jeanne Fetsch sees a bright future for these ladies. “There is a lot of talent on this Under 10 girls team and if they continue to work hard to improve as players and as team mates, they will have many tournament victories like the one they produced today. This is a special group of girls.”
