Darrell Webb of Edmonton was part of the main attraction when the 7th Annual Prairie Thunder Drag Races put on a show at the Yorkton Municipal Airport.

Part of the excitement was over a pair of cars known to those in the racing world as alcohol funny cars; one driven by Webb and one driven by Sherri Bodnarchuk.

In a sit-down interview with the paper, Webb explained that the term alcohol and methanol are interchangeable. The car burns the substance and gave the car its name.

"It's a ton of fun to drive," he said.

Webb's car is a 540-cubic inch, Chevrolet model with a little field supercharger and and enderly fuel injector system. Webb said he's been racing high-powered vehicles for close to 20 years and that motorsports is something that's run in his family. His race schedule has taken him all over western Canada as well as the Las Vegas strip and the response to his alcohol funnycar has been "tremendous."

"It's unbelievable," he said of the feel of actually driving it at speeds of upwards of 200 miles and hour.
