Resident expresses appreciation for Kamsack Nursing Home

If Cedric is now in a better place, he was in the best place imaginable for 17 months before his death. My heart is stretched to capacity in expressing my appreciation for the Kamsack Nursing Home.

It is no small feat to turn a destination we dreaded into a place I will truly miss.

We were embraced wholeheartedly as a family, easing the sad course of Cedric’s affliction. The nurses, special care aides, activity workers and cleaning staff were always cheerful, patient, and professional, even when understaffed or working double shifts, as they so often are. These caregivers and the other residents became our tribe.

When nursing homes across the country are currently receiving such bad press for neglect and abuse, I want to proclaim our positive experience to anyone who will listen.

Perhaps small town values and familiarity are factors. If so, when we brag about Kamsack’s attractions, and well we should— Madge Lake, new restaurants, gas station, condos, medical clinic—we must include the Kamsack Nursing Home among them.
