ELBOW - A yearly event that was created as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 will once again return this December.

In the lakeside village of Elbow, an annual Christmas event called 'Flip the Switch' has been a smash hit with both the residential locals and visitors to the community. Homeowners in the village are encouraged to literally flip the switch on their Christmas lights and decoration setups at a designated time, at which point it's typical to see vehicles criss-crossing each other on local streets as people gather to go and tour the village to see what people have come up with for the holiday season.

This year's event in Elbow takes place on Saturday, December 14, with everyone being asked to flip those switches at 6:30 pm.

In addition, Santa Claus himself with a merry band of volunteers will once again be at the Harbor Golf Snack Shack handing out goodies and hot chocolate, where people can also enter a draw for a Christmas Dinner hamper. Fireworks will also be on display across from the Elbow Hotel and Bar.

As well, the event also recognizes the efforts put in by local residents, with 'Elbow Bucks' given out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place that are redeemable at participating businesses for the best lights and displays.
