OUTLOOK — Voters in the Outlook region reaffirmed their support for Conservative candidates in Monday’s federal election, re-electing incumbents across local ridings as the country returned a familiar result nationally.

In Moose Jaw–Lake Centre–Lanigan, the riding that includes Outlook and several nearby communities east of the South Saskatchewan River, Conservative Fraser Tolmie retained his seat with 25,729 votes at the time of reporting, a commanding lead over his opponents.

To the west of the river, in Swift Current–Grasslands–Kindersley, Jeremy Patzer was re-elected as the area’s MP, receiving 28,152 votes, well ahead of his challengers. The riding includes communities such as Conquest, Macrorie, Dinsmore and Milden.

In Saskatoon–University, Conservative Corey Tochor narrowly held on to his seat in a tight race against Liberal challenger Greg Poelzer, with the win being declared shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tochor secured 17,286 votes, fending off the close competition.

Nationally, the federal election on Monday, April 28, ended in a result similar to previous votes, with CTV declaring a Liberal minority government led by Mark Carney just 50 minutes after polls closed. The outcome is not what Carney had hoped for amid ongoing strained relations with the United States and former President Donald Trump.
