OUTLOOK - Not only is it provincial election season across Saskatchewan, but a number of communities are also in the midst of running their own municipal elections to see who will take on the respective roles of Mayor and assorted council members.

In Outlook, the nomination deadline was Wednesday, October 9 at the town offices complex. In the riverside community, there are six available seats on town council.

Having previously announced her intentions not to run again as Mayor, Maureen Weiterman's forthcoming absence signalled the need for someone new to step up and put their name forward. Doing so is Ryan Husband, a current town councillor, and after the nomination deadline passed, his name was the only one listed as running for the mayoral position in Outlook.

With the half-dozen seats available on Outlook's town council, there are seven names running comprised of currently-serving councillors, past councillors, and even a few new arrivals looking to enter the local political arena.

The candidates running for town council are Sharon Bruce (current), Kyle McLeod (current), Kevin Grotheim (current), Andy Long, Guy Derdall, Donna Smith, and Tanner Barton.

Out of the current sitting town council, both Bob Stephenson and Justin Turton chose not to run again.

Former town councillor Maureen Applin had originally put her name forward on the list of candidates, but she withdrew her candidacy earlier today due to what she described as medical issues.

Voting opportunities in Outlook's municipal election include advance polls that will be held on Tuesday, October 29 and Saturday, November 9, with both polls taking place at the art gallery located in the town offices complex from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Of course, residents can also vote on Election Day itself, which will be held on Wednesday, November 13, with voting taking place at the Civic Centre from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.
