CONQUEST - Your local library may have better internet in order to stay connected and keep up to date on need-to-know information.
During these summer months, approximately 200 rural public libraries will see their connectivity improve to minimum internet speeds of 50 Mbps (megabits per second). The improved internet access will aid in research and any other online tasks that are being carried out from such public connections.
A total of 21 libraries in the west central part of Saskatchewan have been included in the project, including a few communities in and around the Outlook area. These include Conquest, Delisle, Dinsmore, Lucky Lake, and Milden.
The province's Ministry of Education noted that it is "working closely with SaskTel" in order to upgrade internet bandwidth in a number of rural public libraries across the province.
According to a media release, there are currently 160 public libraries outside Saskatchewan's urban centres with 10Mbps fibre CNet connections and 36 public libraries with 25Mbps.
