LUCKY LAKE - A young local volleyball player from Lucky Lake recently competed with Team Saskatchewan in order to bring home the silver medal in the Canada Cup competition.

Kash Meyers, 17, was in his first year playing club volleyball and ended up joining the Husky Volleyball Club. After Team Saskatchewan coach Jordan Nowakowski noticed Meyers' skills through the season, he was invited to try out for the provincial team, known as the SK Green Selects.

The Canada Cup national competition was hosted in Calgary from July 24-28, with 13 teams from across the country competing. Saskatchewan managed to fly through the round robin games, winning them all before they found themselves matched up against Team Alberta in the gold medal final. It was a hard-fought game that ultimately saw Alberta take the win at 3-0.

Nonetheless, Saskatchewan earned a silver medal, and Meyers looks forward to hopefully doing it again next year if the opportunity arises for him.
