Outlook fire crew welcomes public to third open house

Games, demonstrations, and good food await visitors to annual event.

OUTLOOK - The Outlook-Rudy Fire & Rescue team, along with the local spouses group known as the Fireflies welcomed a large turnout to the Outlook fire hall on Friday evening, September 6 as they hosted the third annual open house event.

Giving people a chance to check out the fire trucks up close, as well as the equipment that the crew uses on calls allowed them to see what tools are used in the event of an emergency. As well, kids got a kick out of trying their best to raise the appropriately-suited mannequin dummy above their heads, tethered to the raised ladder of the fire truck, and they also got a chance to try their hands at putting out a 'fire' by way of blasting wooden flames with the fire hose.

When they weren't checking out the gear or playing games, a BBQ meal consisting of burgers, hot dogs, nachos, salads, cookies and cold drinks awaited all who were looking for a quick supper in support of the new fire hall.

Afterwards, the entire crew posed for a photo in front of one of the fire trucks, ending the successful evening on a positive note.
