DINSMORE - So, I happened to come across a secret clan meeting while I was running errands a week or two ago.......
I found myself down in the area just outside of the village of Dinsmore on Tuesday, March 25.
Gorgeous drive on what turned out to be a very bright and sunny afternoon. While I always prefer the late spring and summer times to be doing my "recreational driving", this day turned out to be just fine. We're in that "it's not quite winter anymore, but it ain't quite spring" time of the year where Saskatchewan in general is just going through that 'transition period' where that white stuff is drying up and things are greening up.
Well, I found myself to be just outside of Dinsmore and near the railyard when I saw a whole gang of deer lounging in the snow without a care in the world. I smiled and continued about with my business that I had to conduct in town, but I knew I'd be pulling out my camera on my way back out of town.
On my way out of Dinsmore, I stopped on the side of the highway and hopped out of my SUV with my camera at the ready. Well, the deer didn't know what to think of me. They all proceeded to stand up and basically stare me down. Me? I felt like I'd just disrupted a mob meeting.
A few snaps later and I was on the road again just about to hang a right back onto Highway 42. Just as I was turning, I looked behind me and just as I suspected, all of those deer were back laying down in the snow, resuming their private business.
What goes down in a Saskatchewan field sometimes, let me tell ya......
