OUTLOOK - This year's Riverbank Rodeo in Outlook was another smash hit with spectators this past weekend.
Held over Aug. 9 and 10 at the rodeo grounds just south of LCBI High School, this was the fifth edition of the event, which started in 2018. The COVID pandemic a few years ago shelved the event in 2020 and 2021 before it returned with renewed popularity in 2022.
Featuring events such as bull riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, and barrel racing, the rodeo was enjoyed by all spectators, including families where kids stayed glued to all the dirt-flying, calf-roping action.
Local riders taking part in the weekend included Lora-Lee Wick of Elbow in barrel racing, Allee Kapeller of Beechy in junior barrel racing, Ella-Rae Malinowski of the Swanson area in junior barrel racing, Tyler Getz of Lucky Lake in tie down roping, Charlee Kapeller of Beechy in breakaway roping, Chase Holbrook of Hanley in team roping, Jarret Nadeau of Outlook in team roping, Brian McPhee of Hanley in steer wrestling, Coy McPhee of Hanley in steer wrestling, TJ Loeppky of Central Butte in steer wrestling, Sheridan Lillyman of Lucky Lake in ladies breakaway roping, and Owen Schmitz of Central Butte in team roping.
Providing some different entertainment during intermission on both nights were young trick riding performers, the Harper Sisters, who wowed spectators with their impressive feats.
The rodeo also brought with it a sense of closure, as this year's event was the last to be held at the grounds south of LCBI. It's being said that it will move over to the grounds of the Jim Kook Rec Plex on the opposite side of Outlook, but the new location has yet to be officially announced.
