MILDEN - The residents of the nearby village of Milden had to make due with restricting their water usage over the weekend.
On Saturday, February 22, the Village of Milden's official Facebook page put out the following advisory:
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: There is a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory in place for the Village of Milden. Due to the frozen intake at Outlook's end, our cistern has run dry. Outlook has their line thawed and their pumps primed but out intake pipe has frozen and we cannot take in water. A steamer is on the way so we hope to have water within the next two hours. Thank you for your patience.
The water advisory was posted at 4:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, and it was issued due to "a frozen water supply line and draining of the finished water reservoir", which resulted in a system depressurization. This means that the quality and safety of Milden's drinking water could not be ensured.
Because of this, residents of the village and users of the system were being asked to boil all water used for drinking purposes prior to ingesting it, as well as other precautionary measures.
The advisory was lifted as soon as Milden's water supply was determined to be completely safe for users.
