Tratch, Rosie

TRATCH: Rosie was born on September 2, 1924 to Mike and Polly (nee Sushetski) Loshka. She grew up on a family farm north of Buchanan and attended Dydland School. Rosie enjoyed playing ball and waitressing. Rosie married Metro Tratch on October 14, 1944 at Olesha Church and they moved to the Tiny district where they started mixed farming on their homestead.

They lived in a two room house for 5 years and then built a new house in 1950. They were blessed with three children, Marlene, Joanne and James. Farming was a large part of Rosie’s life. Some of her interests and activities included cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, quilting, curling, bingo, gardening and playing shuffleboard, bowling and cards at Club 60. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a seamstress, sewing most of her own clothes, her daughters’ clothes and also for weddings. She was the Olesha Church treasurer, a 4-H leader for ten years, and a volunteer at the tourism booth. Metro and Rosie retired to Preeceville in 1982 and continued to be active members of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. They enjoyed travelling to BC, Black Hills, California and spending time at the lake. After Metro’s passing in 1992, Rosie continued to farm with her son and daughter-in-law. Mom always had time for those who held a special place in her heart. She loved visiting with her
family and friends and talking about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had lots of family photos to share. She died peacefully at the Preeceville Long Term Care
after a courageous battle with cancer. Rosie was predeceased by her parents Mike and Polly, husband Metro and infant brother Frank, sisters Mary Hrynchyshyn and Bernice Wionzek, sisterin- law Patsy Loshka, brothers-in-law Peter Wionzek, Harry Charuk and Ben Hrynchyshyn. She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Marlene (Alfred) Maksymiw of Preeceville Joanne (Ken) Crosson of White City, James (Bernie) Tratch of Saskatoon, and her seven grandchildren: Brent (Barbara Mysko) Maksymiw, Bryce (Cheryl) Maksymiw, Kelly (Derek) Bissell, Tara-Lee (Jeffery) Delcastillo, Kerri Tratch, Kyle Tratch, Kourtney (Brydon) Leahm and four great-grandchildren: Teale, Taelyn, Jacob and Nevaeh, sisters Frances Charuk, Jeanette Wionzek; brothers Joe Loshka, Larry Loshka, sistersin- law Stella Tratch, Mary Tratch, brother-in-law Rudolph Wionzekand numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
