PREECEVILLE - The Preeceville and District Lions Club is welcoming back its annual Western Weekend, which is set for July 15, 16 and 17.
"We are pulling out all the stops with continuing the tradition of chuckwagon and chariot races by the Eastern Chuckwagon and Chariot Association. The Etomaime Valley Riders Club will be sponsoring a two-day gymkhana followed by plenty of activities for everyone,” said Ralph Ager, chairperson.
Other attractions will be a car show and shine, mini trade show, bingo, bouncy castle for children, beer gardens and a Saturday night dance with a live band, Call Me Mildy. Sunday will feature a pancake breakfast and a Christian Cowboy service. On Friday, there will be a Texas hold-em poker game and a coed slo-pitch tournament will be hosted on Saturday.
Plane rides will be available on both days.
In July 10, 1960, the club hosted its first sports day with a sum of $1,400 raised, stated the Preeceville History Book.
