PREECEVILLE - Ralph Ager, Mayor for the Town of Preeceville, gave his projected view for the new year.
“We have completed the lagoon and the lift station projects, which were two very large projects that began last year,” he said.
“The next big project for the Town will be looking at a combined water project, but it is very much in the beginning of the planning stages. Our water system is aging and we need a water system upgrade.
“As far as upgrading equipment, we are in good shape with looking at replacing the Bobcat and upgrading the town truck. Another ongoing project is the revitalizing of the Main Street core with focus on the park. The newly formed Economic Development committee has been overseeing the project.
“Business expansions will see two businesses expanding into the buildings next door to each of them, which helps repurpose the older buildings in the downtown area.
“The sidewalk project is a long term plan, with new sidewalks being focused on a little at a time. Some street repairs were done last year but requires a planned budget. We have managed to keep taxes affordable and have a few fully serviced lots with hopes of attracting new people to the community. We have many attractions in the community and moving forward, we remain optimistic with a positive growth for the community in the business and residential areas,” concluded Ager.
