YORKTON - The final numbers are in and this year’s Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign in Yorkton reached a new high.

In its seventh year the campaign raised $17,000 up from $16,490 in 2023.

The money will help fund local initiatives, said Leone Ottenbreit with Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer. She said local initiatives are targeted to help local cancer patients and their families.

That help can take a number of families from covering the cost of the first night’s stay at the Regina Cancer Patient Lodge or Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon, or help  young cancer patients attend a medically supervised summer camp.

Tim Hortons Yorkton owner Mauricio Gomez said it is a fundraising effort he fully appreciates.

“This is a very good thing. My mother died of cancer. It’s a thing that is close to my heart,” he said.
