Guilty pleas from two people in shooting death of The Key FN man

KAMSACK - Two people arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man, from The Key First Nation, have admitted their guilt.

In Kamsack Provincial Court on Feb. 12, 35-year-old Jeffrey Kayseas, of the Fishing Lake First Nation, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

His co-accused, 32-year-old Natashia Keshane, of The Key First Nation, admitted to accessory after the fact to murder, and received 237 days in jail, to be followed by 18 months of probation.

They were both charged last year for the 2022 death of 51-year-old Cory Papequash.
