Inaugural meeting of the newly elected Yorkton City Council

Mayor-elect Kienle called the meeting to order, followed by a report from Returning Officer Jessica Matsalla on the results of the 2024 municipal election. 

YORKTON – The City of Yorkton held a special inaugural meeting of the newly elected council Nov. 15 at City Hall. 

The event commenced with an opening ceremony followed by the official meeting.

The ceremony began with the procession of the 2024-2028 council into the City Hall lobby, escorted by RCMP Staff Sergeant B. Jones and Pipe Major Ferne Katzberg. 

Elder and Knowledge Keeper Ross Cadotte offered a prayer and Cory Cadotte, along with the Yorkton Tribal Council Drum Group, performed an honour and victory song.

Mayor-elect Kienle called the meeting to order, followed by a report from Returning Officer Jessica Matsalla on the results of the 2024 municipal election. 

The Honourable Judge D. Taylor presided over the inauguration of the council.
