Update: Suspect in Subaru arrested

The arrests come after an extensive search that involved multiple Saskatchewan RCMP detachments and units, as well as the Manitoba RCMP, the Protection and Response Team from the Province of Saskatchewan and the CN Police.

ESTERHAZY — Update: At approximately 1:30 p.m., Saskatchewan RCMP stopped a vehicle near Springside. They arrested both occupants, David Frank Burling and an adult female, without incident.

They were in a silver vehicle and not in the green 2016 Subaru CrossTrek originally reference. Saskatchewan RCMP continues to ask members of the public to call 310-RCMP if they see the Subaru. Do not approach it.

These arrests come after an extensive search that involved multiple Saskatchewan RCMP detachments and units, as well as the Manitoba RCMP, the Protection and Response Team from the Province of Saskatchewan and the CN Police.

This complex investigation involves several police/public safety agencies. Updates will be provided by the appropriate agencies as they become available. We have no further information to provide at this time.

The RCMP say they thank members of the media and public for their assistance during this ongoing investigation.

Update: Investigation has determined the green 2016 Subaru CrossTrek may be travelling in or toward the Yorkton area.

It may now have Manitoba plate LJB 238 or LMJ 710 affixed to it.

Update: Officers continue working to locate a suspect vehicle believed to be travelling westbound on Highway 22, possibly to the Fort Qu’Appelle area. Residents should continue to use caution, and report all suspicious persons, emergencies or info to 9-1-1.

Saskatchewan RCMP can confirm the suspect fled from the scene of an officer-involved shooting in Niverville, Man., overnight. Manitoba RCMP say as of approximately 3 a.m. on June 5, there was a large police presence in Niverville in relation to an officer-involved shooting, with an adult male deceased on scene. One female was taken into custody and one male fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. 

Original post: Saskatchewan RCMP is currently in Esterhazy working to locate a male suspect who fled from incidents in Winnipeg and Niverville, Man., overnight. There will be an increased police presence in the area.

The suspect, 29-year-old David Burling, is believed to be driving a green 2016 Subaru CrossTrek with Manitoba plate LJB 238. He is described as five foot two and 190 pounds with black hair and hazel eyes.

RCMP say residents in the area are asked to use caution. Do not stop for hitchhikers. Do not approach suspicious persons. Ensure homes and vehicles are locked.

Report suspicious persons, emergencies or info to 911. Do not disclose police locations, say RCMP.

Updates will be provided as available. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, RCMP will notify the public.
