Maulers lose out to Mintos

Team will travel to Estevan this coming weekend to face the Great North Bears.

The Maulers suffered back-to-back losses to the Prince Albert Pintos in their weekend matchups.

YORKTON – The Yorkton Maulers lost back-to-back matches against the Prince Albert Mintos in their weekend matches.

The team played host to the Mintos losing 4–2 in their Oct. 20th game and 7–3 in their Oct. 21st game.

The Mintos were successful on a power play effort early in the first period of their Friday night matchup, with Taite Donkin putting one past the Maulers' net minder.  Mauler Sam Cristo tied the match a short time later, ending scoring in the first.

The lone goal of the second period came unassisted from Mauler Alex Morrison, giving the team a one point lead to start the third period.

The third saw the Mintos come out on top by capitalizing on two successful power play efforts in the first half of the perido with goals coming by way of Teigan Semchyshen, Owen Nelson and Kale Margolis closing out the game with an empty netter.

Wyatt Bouvier was in net for the Maulers, taking on 36 shots and blocking 33.

Joshua Henry was in net for the win, blocking 22 shots.

It was the Maulers' Leo Jewitt who put the team on the board in their second match of the weekend, but the Mintos fired back with two goals of their own, coming by way of Kelan Simmonds and Carter Cole.  Mauler Lucas Hvidston evened out the score for the Maulers on a power play effort making it a 2–2 game to close out the first period.

The Maulers went scoreless in the second, with the Mintos seeing successful shots from Owen Nelson, Konnor Watson, Taite Donkin and another from Nelson.

Sitting at a 6–2 deficit, things were looking bleak fore the Maulers in the third period.  Minto Will Whitter put another past the Maulers' goalie on a power play effort.  Mauler Aidan Vallance posted one more for the team with the game ending in the 723 loss.

Wyatt Bouvier was the starting net minder for the Maulers and had 25 shots against, allowing six in the first and secnd period.

Owen Sinclair closed out the game for the third period, blocking 10 shots.

Brady Holtvogt was in net for the win, taking on 27 shots.

The Maulers are set to visit the Estevan Great North Bears in back-to-back matches this coming weekend of Oct. 28 and 29th.
