YORKTON – While most students are still waking up, a dedicated group of young athletes at M.C. Knoll School are already in motion.

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m., 25 students from grades 2 to 4 gather for the Pace and Power Club, a high-energy fitness program designed to develop agility, strength and endurance.

The program, rooted in dryland and agility training, focuses on foundational movements like squats and planks while incorporating high-intensity stations and cardio drills. More than just a workout, it’s an opportunity for students to build healthy habits, improve their focus and start their school day on a positive note.

"We started the program as an attempt to promote fitness learning with some of our youngest Knights," said M.C. Knoll Principal and coach Phil Adams.

"We often hear people say things about this being an 'iPad generation'... these students certainly buck that trend and are pushing themselves to maintain a healthy active lifestyle. The research is clear—when students start their day in an active way they enjoy numerous benefits in terms of focus and improved mental well-being," added Adams.

The Pace and Power Club will run until the end of March, culminating in a special wind-up event where staff, parents and family members will join students for one final group workout.

With commitment, energy and enthusiasm on full display, these young Knights are proving that an active lifestyle starts early—and that fitness can be both fun and rewarding.
