Parkland 18U Expos play weekend trio at Jubilee Park in Yorkton

YORKTON - It was a hot day for baseball but the Parkland 18U Expos took to the diamond at Jubilee Park in Yorkton for a doubleheader Saturday.

It was a defensive struggle in game one as the Expos edged the Z7 Sun Devils 2-1. The two teams combined for 14 strikeouts.

The Sun Devils scored their lone run in the sixth.

A double by Bryker Smith pushed across the tieing run for the Expos in the bottom of the seventh.

A Michael Klus RBI single completed the comeback with a walk off run.

Kaden Pihach was the winning pitcher. The reliever allowed no hits and no runs in an inning of work.

Matthew Spilchuk had started the game on the mound for the Parkland ‘nine’.

In game two Saturday, the offences got on track, especially for the visiting Sun Devils, as they rolled to a 9-5 win.

Pihach took the loss on the mound for the Expos, in relief of starter Jackson Bradford.

Michael Klus and Bradford each had two hits in the loss for the Expos.

The Expos were in action Sunday at Jubilee Park this time against the Moose Jaw Canucks.

The game saw a dominating performance by the Canucks who scored a dozen to win 12-3.

The highlight of the game for the Expos was a two-run first inning that included Calem Yont stealing home.

The game changed in the second as Moose Jaw plated six.

Cohen Murray was the losing pitcher. The right-hander lasted six innings surrendering 11 runs on 16 hits.
