Preeceville wins big at district basketball playoffs

Eight teams competed at the event.

YORKTON – The Yorkton Regional High School hosted the East Central Junior Girls District basketball playoffs from Feb. 28 to March 1.

Eight teams competed at the event, including four from Yorkton: Yorkton Regional High School, Sacred Heart High School, Yorkdale Central School, and St. Michael’s School. The visiting teams were Melville Comprehensive School, St. Henry’s Senior School (Melville), Norquay School and Preeceville School. The tournament featured skilled athletes from grades 6 to 9.

Sacred Heart High School prevailed over St. Henry’s in the B-side final, while St. Michael’s claimed victory against Yorkdale in the B-side consolation. On the A-side, the YRHS defeated Melville Comprehensive in the consolation match. Meanwhile, Preeceville emerged victorious over Norquay to secure the A-side championship.
