Remembrance Day service held in Yorkton

More than 40 wreaths were also laid at the cenotaph starting with one by Silver Cross Mother Bonnie Rushowick.

YORKTON - A Day of Solemn Remembrance’ service was held in Yorkton Monday.

The service began with a parade including members of the Royal Canadian Legion General Alexander Ross Branch No. 77 - Yorkton, RCMP, Yorkton and District Pipe Band, local army, air force and navy cadets, the 10th Field Artillery Regiment (Yorkton), and other organizations.

Held at the Gallagher Centre Flexihall, the day included ‘O’ Canada’ by Jennifer Haas, an honour song by the Tribal Council Drum Group, a recitation of ‘In Flanders Field written by Lieutenant-Colonel Jon McCrae and The Story of Indigenous Contributions told by Cory Cadotte.

More than 40 wreaths were also laid at the cenotaph starting with one by Silver Cross Mother Bonnie Rushowick, then Garry Breitkreuz on behalf the federal government, MLA David Chan, Tribal Chief Isabele O’Soup, and Yorkton Mayor Mitch Hippsley.a
