St. Michael's and M.C. Knoll claim victory in basketball

In the 2024 YESSA Championships. M.C. Knoll and St. Michael's were victorious.

YORKTON – The Yorkton Elementary School Sports Association (YESSA) city basketball championships recently brought thrilling action to the court, concluding the elementary basketball season on a high note.

This annual event showcased the skills and passion of young athletes. During the regular season, five teams competed in the girls’ division, while eight battled in the boys’ division, highlighting the growing popularity of school and club basketball. Players transitioning to high school programs are showing increased skill and basketball IQ.

Special recognition goes to M.C. Knoll and St. Michael’s schools for hosting the tournament in their excellent gym facilities. Thanks are also due to the officials who ensured the games ran smoothly.

Fans brought energy and support to the stands throughout the season and during tournament play. Above all, the players deserve gratitude for their dedication to the sport.

In the 2024 YESSA girls’ basketball final, St. Michael’s defeated Yorkdale to claim the championship title, while Columbia/Dr. Brass fell to the M.C. Knoll Knights in the third-place match.

On the boys’ side, M.C. Knoll emerged victorious over St. Michael’s in an intense championship game. Dr. Brass secured third place with a win against Yorkdale.
