Sunflower newcomer promotes glass crafts

Artist spent over 25 years honing his craft.

YORKTON – Among the many original artistic works of the 2024 Sunflower Art & Craft Market were the glass works of Sunflower newcomer and parkland local, Kevin Rowan.

Rowan, a journeyman glazier who has been in the glass trade for over 30 years, told SaskToday.ca that he has been honing his artistic craft for the past 25 years, having learned the art of stained glass from his mother before incorporating glass fusing over the past three.

"I just love glass," said Rowan.

His creations range from various dishware to strictly artistic pieces, such as a framed Ukrainian headdress.

Rowan said that some of what he does is freehand work while other pieces are done in moulds and that everything is done in kilns at different temperatures to achieve different designs.

Those interested in Rowan's work can contact him at 306-730-6144, contact him through Facebook, or visit his Etsy store, CobaltGlassCA.
