The Meeple Guild: Pandas and parachutes = fun

The art on the well-sized cards is cute and funny. The pieces wood, so a bonus.

YORKTON - There are games we like way more than we should and that is the case with Parachute Panda.

This is a crazy little game where players place their panda on the top of the board – thematically they’ve jumped from an airplane sans parachute.

It is inevitable they will hit the ground, but your goal is to watch other pandas fall into the mouths of the  hungry alligators below – they might be crocodiles. You accomplish being the slowest to fall by playing cards to influence your panda and others.

You might drop anvils from above to quicken descents.

You might offer your panda a balloon lift.

You might thwart what other players play with cards that stop previous plays etc.

Yes folks this is as much about stomping your opponent’s efforts as it is about buoying your own chances, so if you don’t like player-to-player conflict pass on Parachute Panda.

But, if some ‘take that buddy’ is in your gaming wheelhouse then this one from designers Conner Coleman, and Mike Richie is a total blast.

Sure this one is completely luck driven – key cards at key moments are game changers, but it’s such a quick game with so much interaction and silly results the lack of control is fine – it’s just part of the mayhem.

The rules are quick to learn, and set up is a snap.
