YORKTON – United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) has provided a welcome boost to BGC Yorkton.

The UFA announced Oct. 30, a $500 donation to the non-profit organization, which was chosen by the UFA delegate body.

"We donated $500 to BGC Yorkton on behalf of UFA. The delegate body gets to donate $500 to the non-profit charity of their choice annually, and we chose to give it to them this year," said Travis Dreger, Delegate for UFA, in an interview with SaskToday.ca

"We are actively involved in the 4H program already so we chose something that would touch the youth of the community. UFA is very active in giving back to the communities that they're supporting and showing care and concern for the area and the people in the communities," added Dreger.

Lorraine Oranchuk, CEO of BGC Yorkton, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its flexibility as a significant benefit.

"We were lucky enough to be chosen," said Oranchuk, adding, "we always have plans when we get funds. It's really fantastic to get funds that aren't earmarked for anything in particular, so then we can direct that towards whatever we need. If it's putting it towards our nutritional programming or supplies for our after-school program we can direct that in whatever direction we need it. It's fantastic to have dollars come in that we didn't know we were getting."
