Yorkton / Melville split preseason SJHL pair

YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers preseason continued on the weekend with a home-and-home set with Highway 10 rival Melville.

The set started Friday in Melville and the Millionaires dominated early.

Simon Parini and Jadon Iyogun gave the home side a 2-0 through 20-minutes of play.

Cale Nachai and Andrew Casellato made it 4-0 before the midway point of the second frame.

Aiden Knutson and Jason Desnoyers scored two in a three-minute span to put the Terriers on the board.

But, the Mills were not done in the second period as Caden Drury and Nachai both scored late to extend the Melville lead to 6-2.

The third saw Cohen Swan make it 7-2, before William Leonard scored for Yorkton to round out a 7-3 contest.

Callum Creig and Kieren Madill split time in the Terrier net, while Noah Davis and Carson Rennie did the same for Melville.

The teams met again Saturday, this time at the Westland Insurance Arena in Yorkton.

In this one it was all Terriers.

David Coyle, Jaron Desnoyers and Tate Schofer doubled it to 6-0 home side with second period markers.

Desnoyers would add his second of the contest in the third to wrap up a 7-0 win.

Veteran Ethan Farrow was in the Terrier nets playing the full 60-minutes and stopping all 16 shots he faced.

The Millionaires split their goal tending duties between Nick Genette and Davis Noah.
