The Yorkton Regional High School Raider Gridders managed only three points in action Friday.

YORKTON -The lights of Friday Night Lights in Yorkton did not prove too bright for the Weyburn Eagles as they soared to 24-3 win Friday.

While managing only 169 yards in total offence at Century Field the Eagles intercepted six errant Raider Gridder passes to shutdown the Riona High School offence.

Hayden Buehler led Weyburn with two touchdowns, with Max Vennard adding a third.

In spite of the 24 points conceded Yorkton assistant coach Jason Boyda was satisfied with the defensive affort.

He said it was a “defensive battle this past Friday night.

“Our defence and special team units played lights out.”

Colton Keltie managed the only points on the night for the Raider Gridders with a field goal.

The Raiders need to do better with the ball, offered Boyda.

“Our Raider Gridder offence needs to do a better job of ball security and can’t put our defence in a bind, especially gifting them two pick six and a third pick on our five-yard line,” he said.

“It starts with me as OC (offensive coordinator), and we will make the corrections this week as we prepare for Estevan.”
