YORKTON - Home side fans left the Westland Insurance Arena in Yorkton in a fine mood Friday evening.
The smiles were because the local Terriers had just defeated their Highway #10 rival Melville Millionaires in SJHL playoff action.
The game was the first of a best-of-seven opening round series.
Things were even through the opening 20-minute.
The home side opened the playoff ledger when David Coyle scored at 7:06.
With basically a couple of minutes the game was tied thanks to a powerplay effort from Millionaire Simon Parini.
The middle stanza was a good one for the Terriers are they scored two unanswered goals; Evan Auld with an unassisted effort at 5:28 and Tate Schofer at 12:44.
Jaron Desnoyers made it a 4-1 final potting an unassisted empty-netter in the third period.
Ethan Farrow was in the Terrier net facing only 19-shots for the net.
Ben Laurette took the loss for the Mills facing 31-shots.
Game two of the series goes Sunday evening again in Yorkton.
