I used to be a home inspector and one of the questions I got asked then and still get asked as a real estate agent is " Are home inspections really needed when I'm buying a new home?" Recently, I was showing a newly built home that had never been lived in. One of the issues I pointed out to my clients was the electrical outlet for the washer was underneath the water supply was not a GFCI. This is an absolute must.
So, is a home inspection necessary? Yes. It really is.
