SASKATOON – A 48-year-old man charged with stealing more than $25,000 worth of cattle from Alberta made his first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court Tuesday. Alvin Hamm’s matter was adjourned to June 7 for plea.
Hamm was arrested after the Alberta RCMP Livestock Investigations Unit [LIU] started investigating a report of cattle theft in Thorhild, Alta., in February. The investigation determined that the cattle were taken to Martensville, Sask. On March 16, Martensivlle RCMP and RCMP Alberta LIU raided a property in the R. M. Of Corman Park where they recovered 10 cows that were identified through Alberta Livestock Brands.
RCMP say that some of the stolen cattle haven’t been located. The cattle are described as Black White Face or Black Brockle Face cows with Alberta Livestock Brands BAR 2 V [right hip] and 6 OVER SPLIT END BAR [left hip].

The charges against Hamm haven’t been tested in court.
