Brenda Partridge was remanded in custody at Pine Grove Correctional Centre after her appearance in Meadow Lake court July 13.

MEADOW LAKE – A 38-year-old Meadow Lake woman – who had charges of assault and forcible confinement stayed earlier this year – is back in custody on similar allegations. Brenda Partridge was arrested and charged after a man and woman were held captive in a basement and the man assaulted and robbed. The woman escaped.

On July 11, Meadow Lake RCMP got a report around 9:30 p.m. of forcible confinement and found an injured man. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police investigation determined that a group of people confined the man and a woman in the basement of a home. They were threatened with firearms and the man was assaulted and robbed. The woman was able to escape. She didn’t report any injuries. North Battleford RCMP General Investigation Section and Identification Section assisted Meadow Lake RCMP with the investigation.

Partridge was charged with two counts of forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm in an offence, two counts of assault with a weapon, four counts of robbery and two counts of uttering threats.

Partridge was remanded in custody after her July 13 appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court and is scheduled to appear again by CCTV from Pinegrove Correctional Centre on July 24.

Her co-accused, 34-year-old Lindsay Bouvier, who faces the same charges, was also remanded in custody and appears by CCTV from the correctional centre on July 24.

The other two charged, 30-year-old Sheldon Partridge, and 28-year-old Jayce Patenaude, were released from custody on July 17 and appear again on July 24.

Sheldon Partridge and Patenaude are charged with two counts of forcible confinement and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Partridge’s previous charges

Meadow Lake Crown Prosecutions office has until February 2024 to bring charges of aggravated assault, forcible confinement, and possession of stolen mail against Partridge back to court.

The Crown had stayed those charges in February after a key witness failed to show for the trial.

Meadow Lake Crown Prosecutor Peter Short previously told SASKTODAY.ca that the Crown has a year to have the case against Partridge brought back before the courts if the witness is located. A warrant had been issued for the arrest of the witness and RCMP are trying to track her down, said Short.

Partridge allegedly held a woman captive and assaulted her last year. Meadow Lake RCMP received a call on Jan. 29, 2022, that a woman was in distress at a home on 3rd Avenue West in Meadow Lake. When police entered the home, they found an injured woman inside. Police say that she had been threatened and assaulted by multiple people earlier that day and forcibly confined. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While police were investigating that incident, they noticed a large quantity of mail in the home. They secured the residence and got a search warrant. They said the mail was believed to be connected to their ongoing investigations into break-ins to mail boxes in Meadow Lake. Meadow Lake RCMP had previously warned the public about the mail theft investigations in November 2021 and January 2022.
