Decision today in Whitby second-degree murder trial

Lawyers presented arguments on June 22, judge reserved decision for later date.

REGINA – A decision into the trial of Chelsea Rae Whitby is expected to be heard in Regina King’s Bench Court this morning.

Back on June 22, Justice C.L. Dawson reserved her decision into the matter for Aug. 31, but that date was pushed to today.

Whitby is accused of second-degree murder in relation to her infant son’s death that occurred between June 9 and 10 of 2020. A three-week trial took place back in April with more than 20 witnesses including medical experts, family members, and the accused providing testimony.

Emerson William Bryan Whitby was only 18 months old when he died as a result of blunt-force trauma to his head.
