Drug charges for Swift Current pair

Police seized cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphenalia.

SWIFT CURRENT – A recent traffic stop in Swift Current took some illegal drugs off the streets and proved police are serious about their commitment to impacting the drug trade.

“We will not tolerate the trafficking of street drugs into our communities. Last week, we warned Swift Current and surrounding communities of the presence of dangerous illicit drugs after two fatal suspected fentanyl overdoses,” said S/Sgt. Ryan How of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team. “While it is too early to determine whether these drugs were connected, officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP STRT are continually dedicated to investigating and disrupting drug trafficking networks. We are committed to locating and charging those who choose to traffic illicit drugs and threaten our communities’ safety.”

The STRT made the traffic stop on Jan. 4, arresting two people - but not before a quick chase.

“An adult male fled from officers when the vehicle was stopped and officers located and arrested him shortly after,” said an RCMP media release. A woman was also arrested during the investigation.

“Officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 16 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of fentanyl, one gram of methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia,” RCMP said. “The illicit substances were seized for further investigation.”

Bailey Bolton, 35, of Pennant and Scott Bolton, 36, of Swift Current were each charged with two counts possession for the purpose of trafficking; and one count possession of the proceeds of crime. Scott Bolton was also charged with single counts of resisting arrest and breach of undertaking. He will make a first court appearance on these charges on Jan. 11 while Bailey Bolton has her first appearance on Feb. 1.
