REGINA – A collision on Ring Road between the Wascana Parkway and Albert Street has claimed the life of one man and sent a teenager to hospital.
Regina Police Service units responded to the collision around 1:18 p.m. on Nov. 2, where citizens had already begun attending to the teen.
"It appeared she was the driver of a white Taurus at the scene," said RPS in a media release. "A Honda SUV was in the ditch between [the] eastbound and westbound lanes. None of the occupants of the Honda were injured."
A third vehicle - described as a black Ford truck - was in the ditch south of the eastbound lanes, situated near a fallen light standard. The male driver of the truck was trapped inside, and EMS on scene confirmed he was deceased. Emergency crews continued to provide services to others onsite, and the driver of the Taurus was transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
"Although this investigation is still in its early stages, it appears the white Taurus was westbound on the Ring Road - approaching the Albert Street exit - when the vehicle went through the ditch between westbound and eastbound lanes and collided with the truck, which was travelling eastbound," RPS said. "The force of the collision sent the truck into the ditch south of the eastbound lanes."
Police add that the man who died at the scene will not be publicly named and that his next of kin has been notified. RPS is also asking anyone with information about this collision to contact them at 306 777-6500 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
