Inmate found deceased at RPCC

Police do not suspect foul play, investigation continues.

REGINA – An inmate at the Regina Provincial Corrections Centre who was on remand has died in his cell. The 39 year-old male was discovered unresponsive on Dec. 21.

"Corrections staff called EMS and initiated life-saving measures,” said a media release from Corrections, Policing and Public Safety. Unfortunately, emergency crews were not able to revive the man, despite their efforts.

No foul play is suspected, and next of kin have been notified. RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are investigating the death, which has been confirmed not to be related to COVID-19.
