PRINCE ALBERT – A trial has been set for a woman arrested by the RCMP gang units from Meadow Lake and La Ronge.

The trial for Lexis Storoschuk from Spruce Home is scheduled for Oct. 18 in Prince Albert Provincial Court. She is out on bail.

Storoschuk, and her co-accused Kevin George Ackegan, from Saskatoon, were arrested in October 2023 when the RCMP’s Meadow Lake and La Ronge Crime Reduction Teams were conducting proactive patrols on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

During the traffic stop, officers observed illicit drugs and paraphernalia. In the vehicle, they seized about 244 grams of suspected methamphetamine, three prohibited firearms, ammunition, weapons including brass knuckles, a sum of cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Both Ackegan and Storoschuk were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, three counts, unlicensed possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, two counts, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and resisting /obstructing a peace officer.

Ackegan was also charged with four counts of failing to comply with a probation order, four counts of possession of a weapon contrary to order, and failing to surrender authorization. He was also wanted on a warrant from Prince Albert Police Service.

Ackegan was on probation. In December 2020, he had pleaded guilty in Prince Albert Provincial Court to weapons and drug-related charges avoiding a trial. In February 2021, he was sentenced to 23 months in jail.  During his sentencing hearing, court heard that Ackegan was a known Terror Squad street gang member.

Ackegan remains in custody and is back in court on May 1.
