PRINCE ALBERT – One person was sent to hospital after an assault with a weapon this morning.
Police were called to a house on the 1000 block of River Street West around 6 a.m.
"Upon arrival, members located a victim who was transported to the Victoria Hospital with non-life threatening injuries," said PAPS. "At this time, the investigation suggests two individuals visited the residence. An altercation ensued between one of the visitors, identified as a suspect, and the victim, who were acquainted with each other."
During that fight, a small calibre firearm was discharged. The suspects were two men on BMX-style bicycles, who left the scene.
"Over the past week, our city has experienced two separate shooting incidents," PAPS said. "While these incidents share similarities, it is important to note that they have not yet been confirmed to be related.
There will be an increased police presence in the areas where the incidents occurred
"We encourage the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly to the police," said PAPS.
Anyone with information on this assault can call PAPS at (306) 953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
